有不少藝人篤信的妙禪，其實創立者劉錦隆師傅在1990開始禪修，1998年成立為佛教如來宗，2004年開始傳教至今弟子有七萬人，九成以上是高知識份子，但現在遭周刊踢爆，要加入妙禪每人每月可得繳交2千元的供養金，自稱旗下有七萬弟子的妙禪師傅劉錦隆，換算下來至少已吸金超過數十億元。
